DESIGN COMMUNICATION
Reflection
For this module, starting off with the tutorial exercises was a good way to introduce us to what was in store for us in this module. They taught us the basic skills, such as design principles, hatching, architectural lettering, drawing to scale and rendering with color. I really enjoyed the first assignment which allowed me to have creativity and express it as a movie poster. It taught me the various color palettes used for different movie genres and the elements required in a movie poster. However when it reached the second and third assignments, it became technical drawings. Assignment 2 provided us with already measured dimensions of the Farnsworth House which was easier as we just had to follow the measurements but draw them to scale. The orthographics were fine but the truly hard part were the axonometric and perspective drawings because I had never done them before. But after pushing through multiple trial and errors and some assistance from peers, I finally was able to complete it and even learned new technical drawing methods - especially drawing one and two point perspectives that had to be to scale. The final assignment was much tougher as we had to measure everything by ourselves. Even worse was that my model was especially hard to draw. However, through Assignment 2, I was applied the skills I've learned and was able to finish all the drawings required of my very own model. The last two assignments which required technical drawings were honestly quite difficult for me but I realized no matter how hard it is, I still had to be able to do it as it was a important skill that is required if I wanted to be an Architect. Overall, this module has taught me new skills and techniques through lectures and tutorials by Dr. Lia and Ar. Zahari.
