MATERIALS APPLICATION:

ARCHITECTURAL AND STRUCTURAL

 
 
 

Task:

  • Choose an attractive building with diverse material applications.

  • Identify the structural and architectural materials used in the chosen building.

  • Focus on one specific material used in the building for further analysis.

  • Create a layout on A2-sized board/paper, including content and descriptions.

  • Compile findings, photos, drawings, and other relevant information into the A2 board.

I chose the Royal Ontario Museum by Daniel Libeskind as my chosen building.

Then, I did further research and analysis on the building to find out its architectural and structural materials and what they are used for and their properties. I then composed everything into a board with references attached as well.

Reflection
 

Throughout this assignment, I had the opportunity to explore and analyze the Royal Ontario Museum designed by Daniel Libeskind. I approached the task with a mix of curiosity and excitement, drawn to the building's captivating design and diverse material applications. Identifying the various structural and architectural materials used in the museum was a fascinating journey. I delved into understanding their installations and how they contribute to the overall composition of the building. Focusing on one specific material allowed me to delve deeper into its characteristics, applications, and visual impact. Throughout this assignment, I developed a deeper appreciation for the intricate relationship between materials, architecture, and design intent. The Royal Ontario Museum exemplified how materials can be used to create visually striking and conceptually rich spaces. This assignment broadened my understanding of the role of materials in architecture and inspired me to explore their potential further in future projects.
