THE DISCOVERY CENTER
Task:

Design a Discovery Center for Kampung Morten, Malacca emphasizing culture, heritage, history, and community well-being.

Two-story monolithic building, 350-450sqm, with 30% minimum on the top floor.

Universal design principles applied with the implementation of at least two modifying elements.

Translate the essence of Kampung Morten into a guiding narrative for the Discovery Center.

A physical model
With the theme "Living Heritage" in mind, I first had to come up with a narrative and intention - a journey back to the good old days of Kampung Morten. The discovery center would be in 3 stages, showcasing cultures from the past, modernization and present eras of Kampung Morten. To start off, I did some site response diagrams along with some design process.
