ASSIGNMENT 1
DIAGRAMMING ARCHITECTURAL PRINCIPLES
Task:
-
In a group of 6, research and produce architectural drawings for a specific architect and their key building.
-
Produce hand-drawn architectural drawings (scale 1:50) on A3 landscape format, including site plan, floor plans, sections, elevations, and perspective.

Analyze on main design intentions, context, space planning, circulation and zoning, and structure.

Formulate findings into 5 analysis diagrams and 5 diagrammatic models (8 x 8 x 8 cm).
Our team was given the Sahi W&D House by SILAA Architects, located in Hue, Vietnam.



Then, we did our individual research based on the 5 different types of analysis and came up with the diagrams, followed by models.





The diagrams and orthographic drawings were then later compiled into a presentation board layout.

Reflection
In this assignment, I embarked on an intriguing exploration a tropical building in Vietnam which explored the open concept. After researching into the architects' work, I gained a fresh appreciation for the connection between architecture and its context. Investigating tropical settings, weather, natural lighting, and ventilation revealed the potential for creating harmonious spaces. Throughout the assignment, I also acquired the ability to simplify complex architectural concepts into informative diagrammatic representations. Overall, this experience deepened my understanding of architecture and left me with a sense of achievement. I am grateful for the hands-on opportunity to delve into architectural design and analysis, which expanded my knowledge and skills in this captivating field.
