ASSIGNMENT 1
INDUSTRIALISED BUILDING SYSTEM
In a group, we had to conduct a case study of a building, preferably an apartment, constructed fully or partially using the Industrialized Building System (IBS) method. The objective was to identify all the IBS components used, including their appropriate sizes.
Following this study, we were required to design an apartment with up to 100 square meters per unit. Each unit was to include a living hall, dining area, three bedrooms, and two toilets. The design had to incorporate primarily IBS structures and components, such as precast walls, blockwork, hollow core slabs, precast staircases, toilet pods, and prefabricated timber roof trusses, all with appropriate sizing. These units were to be arranged into three levels.

Our report needed to cover the concept and framework of the proposed IBS categories, including relevant drawings (plans, elevations, sections, isometric views, sectional perspectives, and details), the construction sequence, and a modular components schedule. The report also had to discuss the suitability of the proposed system, features of the proposed IBS components, the fabrication process, and the sequence of construction.
